8 months Post Procedure

Update from Patient at 8 months post procedure:

Well it has been about 8 months now since my abdominal laser liposuction procedure and I have to say that I am still very happy with the results! My small incisions scars have all but almost disappeared and I am more and more confident every day. I am so glad that I got this procedure done! It has really sent me on a path of health and confidence in my body image. I think it was exactly the thing that I needed after diet and exercise did all they could for my flabby belly.

I am happy to say that I am more confident in my clothes now and am still enjoying buying smaller sizes. I fell stronger and healthier than ever and I have still continued on my routine of diet and exercise with even better results. Doing laser liposuction at Final Inches definitely was the right thing for me. I only regret is that I wish I had done it soon!

Post Procedure Diary – Day 6

Final Inches Patient Katie K. talks about Day 6 After Procedure

Day six and I am feeling really good, except for this twisted garment. I decide to go crazy and invite four other Mommies over and have a kids play date at my house. 12 kids in total. Yes I know. What was I thinking? I wouldn’t even normally do this much less six days after a procedure. All of the Mommies quickly accept almost as soon as I push send on my text. I know they all want to come over and see what is really going on. Plus a chance to have their kids play and mess up someone else house. What Mommy would say no to that!

Almost immediately they all want me to strip down and show them how it is all looking. I tell them that I am doing great, no more pain medication needed and it has actually been really not much hassle at all. I pull down my garment and show them that my stitches are almost already all healed, my minor bruising already almost all gone and my tummy as flat as a pancake. ;) They can’t believe it! They grill me again about the costs and about the procedure really being minimally painful. I say yes, yes, yes. I still don’t think they really believe me. But, the proof is right in front of them. My rocking, flat sexy tummy!

The kids ransack the house and have a blast, so every one decides to stay for lunch. Guess that means me making 12 lunches. Thank God for PB and J. Finally, everyone leaves and I clean up the lunch and toy disaster and thank goodness realize it is already nap time. I did it, and I am actually feeling really strong. Mentally and physical I feel like I can run a marathon. OK maybe a half marathon. OK maybe 4 miles.

I can’t wait for my post op appointment. Seems kind of sick but I am really anxious to run. I wonder if the belly roll being gone will make me a better runner? More about my post op appointment and starting back to running in my next post.

What Will My Daughters Think?

Final Inches Patient Katie K. talks about her daughters and her procedure:

Let me start out by saying that I did not have not have this procedure to walk around in mid drift shirts and teeny tiny bikinis. Although believe me, Daddy Warbucks wishes I did! I considered myself to have a pretty good body image of myself beforehand, I just wished to get rid of about a two inch roll over my pants that would not go away!

After telling all of my Mommy friends about my thoughts on having laser liposculpting, the endless questions started. But, no one question really bothered me as much as the, “What will you tell your daughters” question. Jealous old doubty clothes, Mamfia haters, I thought! What was I going to tell my daughters? Well nothing was my first response. Then after thinking about it for a while I knew that 2 of my 3 kids were old enough to probably realize something was going on.

At ages 5 and 3 I probably didn’t have to tell them the whole truth maybe just yet. I had to think for a while about how to be age appropriate and positive. The day before the procedure, I told my daughters that Mommy has a boo boo on my tummy and I was going to go have the doctor fix it. No worries there. Not a single funny look or question. When I came home wearing my garment, I just told them that was my band-aid and it was helping my tummy get better.

One day when my daughters are older and may have some body issues of their own, I will share the full truth then. My hope for my daughters is that they always love their bodies no matter what. But, if they have an issue and have exhausted every other resource to try fix it and it hasn’t work. Then by all means I hope they do something for themselves and fix it and feel good.

Get Rid of Your Old Doubty Clothes!

Final Inches Patient Katie K. talks about getting rid of your doubty clothes, post procedure:

A week after my procedure I went into my closet and took a long hard look at what I had in there. Let’s jut say it wasn’t that pretty. I had not worked in an office job for about 6 years, gone out clubbing, or let’s be honest to many fancy places, since my three kids came along. It was actually really depressing. What happened to that fun fashionable girl that used to spend days shopping and scowering Loehman’s for sexy clothes. I guess I had kind of put all of that aside for comfortable maternity, nursing and kids park clothes.

I vowed right then that this doubty, unsexy suburban Mom was going to be no more. Well, OK at new sexy, flat tummy Mommy had to come out at least 3 to 4 days a week. Let’s be honest here, who is really going to give up their velour jump suits?!

Just then Daddy Warbuck’s comes in and sees my shoving stuff in a big trash bag and gives me a strange look. I can’t figure out if he thinks I have gone mad or he has figured it out and is calculating how much this is going to cost him! He turn to me and says can we please give away the green flower pants?! My jaw just about drops. What those were like my go to pants. Sadly though he is right, they never did much for me and they are actually way to big for me now.

It was such an amazing feeling trying on stuff and having it literally almost falling off of me because my new tummy was so flat! In the end, I donated 2 big trash bags full of old worn out, unsexy, too big for me clothes. I have slowly and carefully built my wardrobe back up, and it feels amazing. I think it is like that old saying that your car just feels like it runs better after you wash it. That is how I was starting to feel, like a shinny new red convertible that needed to take her top off.

I love all of the fabulous compliments that I get now, and how my new updated sexy clothes and flat tummy make me feel. It is like I just run better now. And I am happy to report that Hot Flat Tummy Sexy Mama still comes out at least 3 to 4 days a week!

Post Procedure Diary – Day 4

Final Inches Patient Katie K. talks about Day 4 After Procedure

Monday, day 4. First day totally off Motrin and for the first time not really feeling like I need it. I am out and about running my three kids crazy kids around when I run into a friend that I had not seen since my first day after surgery. She is absolutely shocked at how amazing my results already are and how amazingly flat my tummy from the swelling has already gone so flat. I am not going to lie it felt really good. Considering this friend was one of the most skeptical out of our Mommy group, I felt somewhat vindicated. She had to say all of the negatives when I first brought it up at the park during one of our many Mommy discussion. She had to see me on my first day post op. And now here I was standing in front of her, day 4, looking slim and sexy. Is there any other better feeling in the world?!

P.S. She wants to have the procedure now of course!

Anyway, back to me! Which means back to my kids…This particular Monday was the first day of swim team for my oldest daughter. She was so excited to get on her team suit and head down to the pool and start strutting her stuff. It kind of reminded me of how I was feeling. I was starting to feel so amazing. It was so great to have that feeling finally return to me after being gone for about the last 6 years through pregnancies, c-sections and long stretches of nursing.

So what did I do? I put on my cutest skirt and tight tank top and we both went down to the pool to strut our stuff!! It felt so great to meet all of those new Moms looking and feeling so great. I actually had an odd sense of being proud of myself. Not because I had starved myself for a year, or run 1,000 miles more than I already was. But because I actually stood up and said , hey I can’t get these final inches off! And I need help! And I am going to finally do something for myself, and I did it!

Stay tuned for Day 5 and all of my fun adventures.

Twisted Lingerie – The Garment

Final Inches Patient Katie K. talks about the garment:

I have a love hate relationship with my garment. On the one hand it makes my new bod look so smooth and tight in my clothes, but on the other hand it is kind of cutting off my circulation. Which are all good things, considering it is so tight sometimes it makes me not want to eat!

Daddy Warbucks even lovingly refers to it as twisted lingerie and wishes I would where it all the time even after my 5 week stint. Let’s be honest here ladies. You know what happens a year into your marriage. All of that awesome lingerie that you got at your showers kind of gets put in the bottom drawer and forgotten about. Well over 3 months out from my procedure, and my garment is now sitting in the pile in the bottom drawer. But, I am happy to report that with my new rocking tummy and inspiration from that garment, the rest of that lingerie has been coming out the drawer. And Daddy Warbucks is wishing I had this procedure 5 years ago. ;)

I had a thought the other day if I should get it out for Halloween and try and make it into some kind of costume. But what??? Daddy Warbucks suggested I add thigh highs and garters and add some kind of lace top and go as a burlesque dancer. Yeah to my 5 year olds Halloween party I am sure.

Anyway here are some tips from what I learn about the garment that might help. If you have any suggestions, please add them too.

1. Wear skirts, avoid tight pants and wear either a thick strapped tank top of short sleeves to help cover garment straps.

2. A safety pin to hold the zipper down and in place sometimes helps when wearing tight clothing.

3. If hooks seem to be getting loose, just add a couple of quick sticks with any color thread. Who else is going to see it but you.

4. If having trouble zipping it, do bottom hooks first then step into like underwear then do side clasps then zip it up.

5. If the zipper is digging into your side after a few weeks, try flipping it inside out and wearing it that way to sleep in just to give the side with the zipper a break.

6. If it gets stained even after you dried it and you can’t get it out, try oxi clean.

I Blame The Biggest Loser

From One of Our latest Clients, Stefanie Wilder Taylor:

Co Host Of The Parent Experiment And Author Of Sippy Cups Are Not For Chardonnay.

I feel good about my body! I wasn’t thrilled with the pockets of fat on my thighs but now that they’re gone -thank you Final Inches – I feel downright satisfied. Weird huh? Healthy, not too skinny, certainly not fat, perfect really -perfect for me. And yet. I still sweat a little when I see a scale. It doesn’t matter what the numbers are, they still need to be headed down. I blame Biggest Loser for making me overly concerned with a number on the scale. Okay, sure, I’ve always been a bit hyper-focused on the number feeling that at 125 all was right with the world but at 127 I was a miserable failure who may as well pull a flatbed up to the nearest Krispy Kreme, wait for the light to go on and then load up and go nuts. Yes, I’m all or nothing, black and white with no shades of gray.

But I’d gotten so much better in the past few years. I still take off my shoes when I get on a scale but I won’t strip down naked including jewelry. At least not at the gym or doctor’s office, which is a huge step in the right direction. But when I watch Biggest Loser I still feel that ugly pull. It’s gross how invested I get in those numbers falling. And they have to fall a lot. Two pounds is for wimps. Only double digits feel like an accomplishment. I really don’t like the feelings this show inspires. I know it isn’t healthy.

Sure these contestants have a lot of weight to lose and they try to make it goal oriented but there really isn’t a finish line. We all know that right? Let’s not fool ourselves. I guarantee you that not one of these contestants ever feels done, ever feels like they have arrived at their weight goal like they’d been planning a trip to Paris for a year and finally landed at Charles de Gaulle. No way. These contestants may have originally set out to lose 95 pounds, thinking that would be an unimaginable feat but then, against all odds, they get there! But they must find it’s like trying to stop an 18 wheeler going down hill. You can’t just hit the brakes and expect to stop cleanly. I’m sure they still hear Jillian and Bob’s voice with every bite of turkey burger and light mayonnaise. Do you really think it would be possible for these people to ever have a normal thought about food again? I doubt it.

That’s why these people sometimes look way too thin at the final weigh in. They got to a point where they looked good but they could no longer stop looking at the scale as the enemy so the only choice they had was to keep going. I totally get that! I know that feeling of not being able to “just be” in terms of weight. But I am not feeling that today. Today I feel fat with a PH baby!

Does anyone relate or am I talking to a wall?

It’s the main reason that I don’t own a scale. I also turn around and get weighed backward at the doctor’s office. Sure I look like a neurotic freak but it’s the price of my sanity. Scales are like crack.
