We have been told over and over again that water is essential for weight loss. At Final Inches we agree. Water has many positive benefits, and makes up 60% of your body. It can help keep us hydrated and healthy. Likewise, it is more important for survival than food!
What can water do?
Water can keep you from feeling fatigued and sluggish. When you don’t drink enough water you will get dehydrated. Dehydration will cause your brain to work harder to perform the same tasks.
It can also help to strengthen your bones. You may not think water has calcium. Mineral water does. Mineral water contains about 208 milligrams of calcium per liter. Women under the age of 50 are supposed to get 1,000 mg of calcium per day, drinking mineral water may help you obtain that goal and continue to have strong bones. Getting the right amount of calcium can prevent other medical problems such as osteoporosis.
Did you ever think that drinking water could burn calories? Well it can. Drinking water that is cooled to roughly 37 degrees may lead to a slight increase in calorie burning. This happens because the cool water forces your body to work and maintain its internal temperature. In addition, a glass of water before a meal could have the potential to reduce your appetite.
Another great benefit of drinking water is that it could help protect your heart. When a National Institutes of Health–funded study tracked 34,000 people for 14 years, it found that men who downed five to six glasses of water a day were nearly 70 percent less likely to die of a heart attack.
Overall, getting those 6 – 8 glass of water a day can have a great impact on your health, weight, and life. Do you need to start drinking more water?
